Victoria COVID cases at two on day restrictions expected to ease

Victoria has broken another streak of COVID free days and recorded new local cases on the day restrictions are expected to ease.

On Friday, the health department confirmed there has been two cases acquired locally out of 16,594 tests.

This breaks the state’s streak of six days of no virus infections.

The health department said the new cases are both primary close contacts of pre-existing cases.

They have been quarantining during their infectious period.

Restrictions set to ease

On Thursday, Daniel Andrews said Victoria is still well-placed to ease COVID restrictions further, two weeks after the state emerged from a snap lockdown.

“I think we can be quite positive about making some announcements,” the Victorian premier said.
