‘Well-respected’ woman spared jail after biting off tip of former friend’s finger

A “well-respected” grandmother who bit off the tip of her former friend’s finger during a drunken brawl has been spared jail.

Mansis Bandi, 50, was today given a three-year good behaviour bond in Victoria’s County Court over the fight, which forced surgeons to amputate part of her victim’s ring finger.
But, in sentencing the woman, Judge George Georgiou described the case as “exceptional”.
“You did not provoke this incident,” the judge said.
“You were acting in what you believed was self defence.
